I also have a soft spot for No More Sad Song because he's so deliciously angry, and I Survived You because he sorta swears! And we all know I long for nothing more than to hear innocent lil' Clayton drop the f-bomb. smilies/wink.gif I really love it, and find myself singing it in my head at odd moments. I didn't really like it at first, but just. The lyrics are layered, the melody is beautiful, the vocals are as usual- perfect.Ħ. This song is so sensual and gorgeous and lush and perfect. Once again, the little guy with the big voice made a big splash, and The Measure of a Man sold 613,000 copies while climbing to number one on Billboard's Top 200 during its first week of release. I also love how he completely and totally WAILS. In October 2003, Aiken returned to the spotlight and issued his full-length studio debut, The Measure of a Man. I love the scratchiness in Clay's vocals and the lyrics are very sweet. The Way: I think this is a gorgeous ballad.
It has that sassy, Latin vibe to it- while it doesn't suit Clay as well, it still does amazing things for his voice and also showcases a newer, edgier side to his personality. Again, a song that could do very well on the radio. Touch: By far and away the sexiest song Clayton is ever likely to sing.
Everything about the way he sings it is perfect, especially the long, creamy way he sings, "Will he always love you" and the big, swelling key change into the bridge. Its not "Clay Aiken" or whatever image they've molded him into. Measure of a Man: In my heart of hearts, this is my favourite cut off the album. Why RCA is ignoring it, I have no freakin' clue.Ģ. It could be, IMO, the most commercially successful single on the album. It has such a McCartney-esque feel to it. Its mid-tempo, has such a great hook and I think it would do very well on the radio. Perfect Day: I absolutely ADORE this song. However, its not my favourite on the album. I'm pretty happy with The Way as the next single. I predicted 300K at the CH, but I guess I was off by quite a large margin smilies/wink.gif No matter. I was actually expecting less for Ruben's sales.
